Senator Tom Carper was heard uttering expletives on an unmuted mic during a virtual Senate hearing on the US Postal Service.
On a moment that aired uncensored on C-SPAN, Carper, a Democrat from Delaware, repeated the “F-word” three times.
A colleague of the Senator caught the gaffe and muted his mic.
“Like most Americans in 2020, Senator Carper got frustrated with technical difficulties this morning," a spokeswoman for Sen. Carper told USA TODAY. "But that pales in comparison to his frustration with a Postmaster General who’s actively undermining the U.S. Postal Service during a national crisis.”
The Senate hearing was organized to question Postmaster General Louis DeJoy after operational changes at the USPS that have drawn public criticism.
