Starting today a street in the Gaslamp Quarter is shutting down for bars and restaurants to create more room so there is no overcrowding.

From Thursday to Saturday, Fifth Avenue will be closed between G and L streets.  Thursday and Friday the street closure will start at 11 a.m. with "curbside gaslamp" running from 3 p.m. - midnight on both days.  On Saturday,  the street closure will start at 8 a.m., with street dining running from 12 p.m. to midnight.

Restaurants and bars will be able to now expand their patios into the street.
