November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month, and an issue that many families face but few people talk about is the shortage of pediatric specialists trained to treat epilepsy in children. The Care & Cure Institute is a national nonprofit working to change that by funding pediatric epilepsy fellowships and expanding access to expert care for families across the country.

Executive Director Shannon Abdul-Wahab was diagnosed with epilepsy at just four years old, Shannon now leads this national effort, working with families, doctors, and hospitals to make sure children get the answers and treatment they need. She discusses what’s changing in pediatric epilepsy care, and why this work matters so deeply to so many families.
