The Padres got back in the win column after their 8-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday night, beating the Rockies 9-3. The story of the game was rookie Ethan Salas, the Padres' 20-year old top prospect, who hit both his first and second career home runs in this game and became the youngest catcher in MLB history to homer twice in one game. The Padres scored early and often, putting up runs in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th innings, including four runs in the 6th. Robbie Ray was effective on the mound, limiting the Rockies to three runs in six innings on three hits and two walks. Ray had held Colorado to only one run through five innings until Kyle Karros hit a 2-run shot to straight away center field in the 6th inning that Jackson Merrill just narrowly missed robbing as it hit off the tip of his glove. The Padres will look to escape from Coors Field winning three out of four games when they send Michael King to the hill on Thursday.
