Will there be another season of "Grey’s Anatomy?"
Ellen Pompeo is opening up about the future of the long-running medical drama.
During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the actress, who is one of the highest-paid on TV, revealed if there are any plans for the 18th season.
“I can’t say. Can’t say,” she explained.
She then went on to say that the fate of the Shonda Rhimes-created series hasn’t been determined yet.
“We honestly have not decided. We’re really trying to figure it out right now,” she continued.
“It’s, what story do we tell? To end a show this iconic, you know, how do we do it?” the 51-year-old mused.
She noted that the decision is a big one because it had to do the show justice.
"I just want to make sure we do this character and this show and the fans – I want to make sure we do it right,” she added.
While Pompeo said no matter what happens, she will always be Meredith Grey, the beloved character she’s portrayed since the show’s inception in 2005, she isn’t counting out her next big project.
"It's a blessing, of course. You're on a hit show. But at the same time, you do have to kind of go, 'Okay, now I'm in this box. What comes next? How do i find my way out?" she said.
That being said, Pompeo is planning to bring the “Paradise” book series to life on ABC.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the potential drama would revolve around Irene Steele, who finds out that her late husband was living a secret life with a family on a Caribbean island after his death.
Pompeo would serve as an executive producer.
