Kat Dennings is making her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While it’s been nearly a decade since Dennings portrayed Darcy Lewis in the 2013 film “Thor: The Dark World,” she’s reprising the character as part of the ensemble cast of Disney+ hit “WandaVision.”
The 34-year-old is now opening up about the intensely secret audition process she had to endure to get the role in the initial 2011 “Thor” film.
"It was so secret that I didn't know what I was auditioning for," Dennings said during an interview on the “Keep It” podcast. “So I went to an address. I have no idea what’s going on. I don’t know what the movie is, all I know is that it’s a superhero movie and I’m like ‘Am I a superhero?’ What do I wear, like, leggings? What do I do?”
To make sure no information about the project got out, the studio sent her a fake script and even had her go to the “wrong” address.
“Fake sides, character didn’t exist, signed a thing at this address, I looked around, and I was like ‘There’s no one at this address,’” she continued. “And then someone came over in a golf cart, and he was like ‘I’m here to take you to the real place’ and I was like ‘What?'”
The “Two Broke Girls” actress likened the whole process to a kidnapping.
“Well, 100% like abduction, but it was, like, a different place entirely, it was so, so crazy," she added.
Despite the peculiar casting process, she is extremely grateful for getting the role of Darcy Lewis.
“I don’t know why I got that part to be honest,” Dennings said. “It was just lucky. A lucky thing.”
When fans last saw Darcy she was an intern for Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), but her character has since advanced to become an expert in her field on “WandaVision.”
Taking place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” the series follows Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) as they try to keep their identities a secret while living a suburban life in the town of Westview.
The first four episodes of “WandaVision” are streaming on Disney+ now.
