Christmas movies are in full swing over on the Hallmark channel...who are we kidding, they've been in full swing over there since October but their newest movie is different! "A Biltmore Christmas" premiered Sunday night and it has direct ties to our area because it was actually filmed on location at Biltmore! They had a local casting call and lots of our listeners mentioned putting in to be an extra in the movie...we even contemplated it ourselves! We had our reserves about the movie because it's a Hallmark Christmas movie and they are known for being rather cheesy but this one was a pleasant surprise!
A preview for Hallmark's "A Biltmore Christmas"
One Tree Hill's Bethany Joy Lentz stars at Lucy Hardgrove, a screen writer hired to write the script for a remake of a holiday movie that is set at Biltmore. She is sent to Asheville, NC to explore the grounds in search of inspiration. She joins a tour of the grounds and when she knocks an hourglass over, she finds herself transported back in time to 1946 on the set of the original movie! She meets the original actors and begins learning that there is more to the movie than everyone thinks! She spends time with one of the lead actors and you guessed it...she falls for him! Lucy is in quite the predicament though because she lives in 2023 and he lives in 1946! This part of the story was easy to guess but the ending was not...I was pleasantly surprised how good "A Biltmore Christmas" actually was! It's pretty short at less than an hour and half but they packed the perfect amount of story in! The secondary characters in the film also made it even better with their wit and fun personalities. I can't wait to see which of the extras are from our area!
I definitely recommend that you put this one on your watch list, especially if you are from Upstate SC! Chances are if you live near Biltmore, you've been to Biltmore. It is showcased beautifully and I saw lots of things that I recognized from the many Christmas candlelit tours I've taken over the years! Nothing beats Biltmore at Christmas by the way...highly recommend it! Watch this movie after you go so you can see the similarities. Let me know what you think if you give this one a try this Christmas season...it's worth it!
