“NCIS” is adding two series regulars to its cast ahead of the drama’s upcoming 19th season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, CBS has confirmed Gary Cole and Katrina Law will join the series portraying FBI Special Agent Alden Park and Special Agent Jessica Knight, respectively.
While details on Cole’s character are sparse, CBS insiders told the outlet he will not be replacing Mark Harmon as the show’s longtime lead. Harmon has played Leroy Jethro Gibbs since the show’s launch in 2003 and is expected to scale back his appearances next season, per TVLine.
The network has not released an official statement on Harmon, only stating that he will definitely be a part of the 19th season.
Meanwhile, Law appeared in the final two episodes of season 18 and will now be back as full-time cast member. Her character of Special Agent Knight is a formidable REACT (Regional Enforcement Action Capabilities Training Team) agent who specializes in hostage negotiations and handles daily high-risk operations with skill and precision.
"We haven't shot a single frame quite yet, but with the addition of Gary Cole and Katrina Law to the cast, this is already shaping up to be one of the best seasons yet," Steven D. Binder, executive producer/showrunner of NCIS, said in a statement. "Going into season 19, we are excited to have new characters and stories to tell that adds to and reenergizes the world we've come to love over the 400-plus episodes."
The announcement of the new series regulars comes on the heels of Emily Wickersham’s exit in the show’s recent season 18 finale.
In addition to Cole, Law and Harmon, the longtime series stars Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Brian Dietzen, Diona Reasonover, Rocky Carroll and David McCallum.
While a premiere date has yet to be revealed, “NCIS” will air on Mondays at 9pm ET/PT in the fall.
