“Shotgun Wedding” just released on January 27th on Amazon Prime so be warned, you do have to have a prime subscription to watch this one. The movie stars Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel as an engaged couple who travels to the Philippines for a perfectly planned (by the groom!) wedding. Things go a little south when the bride’s ex shows up unannounced but then things go very wrong when the entire wedding party is taken hostage! The pair must work together to save their friends and families without killing each other first!
The first surprising thing about the movie was the cast! I knew of the two lead actors but I wasn't aware that I was about to get to see a whole plethora of A listers round out the supporting cast! Jennifer Coolidge shows up as the hilarious mother of the groom and Cheech Martin is the wealthy father of the bride! The bride’s ex? Oh he's none other than Lenny Kravitz! Everyone worked together perfectly and delivered an entirely different movie than I expected. I expected a typical rom-com but that is definitely not what ‘Shotgun Wedding” was…sure it had some romance but the action was much more than I anticipated! My husband even enjoyed this one! I looked over to find him watching way more than I thought he would. It is rated R for language and violence so be careful who you watch with but definitely give "Shotgun Wedding” a try! It was a great surprise for my husband and I’s stay at home date night!
