#SelenaGomez
The Peacock streaming service is apologizing to the singer for a “Saved by the Bell” episode that referenced Selena Gomez’s kidney transplant in a brief scene.
In the episode, two Bayside High students get their phones taken away and lose their internet access. The students argue over who donated a kidney to the singer in 2017.
They can’t agree on whether it was Justin Bieber’s mother or Demi Lovato, when it was actually her friend Francia Raisa.
In another scene, there is a graffitied school wall that says, “Does Selena Gomez even have kidneys?”
The network released a statement that says, “It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health. We have been in touch with her team and will be making a donation to her charity, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.”
