    • The Academy Award-nominated star of “Juno,” has come out as transgender.
    • He was formerly publicly knowns as Ellen Page.
    • He made the announcement on Twitter and Instagram yesterday, “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.”
    • He also asked for patience as he navigates this new path saying, “My joy is real, but it is also fragile. The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I (carry,) I am also scared.”
    • He announced in 2018 that he married New York dance teacher Emma Porter and he came out as gay in 2014.

    • South Korea has changed a law to let the group postpone mandatory military service.
    • The Constitution of Korea mandates all South Korean citizens to enlist in the military between the ages of 18 and 28.
    • The law now states that a pop artist can postpone military service upon the culture minister’s recognition that he has dedicated to elevating the national reputation.
    • The are allowed now to put it off until the age of 30.
    • In the past, deferral exceptions were only given to athletes, classical musicians and those enrolled in Ph.D. programs abroad.
    • But now, K-pop stars have become more and more influential in the pop music scene so this may be the new norm.

    • The first show without Alex Trebek now has a premiere date.
    • The episodes will start on January 11th.
    • Instead of naming a new host right away, the show will instead have several guests fill in as they search for the permanent replacement.
    • The first of its interim hosts is Ken Jennings who holds the record for most consecutive games won.
    • The last few episodes that Trebek filmed will finally air the week of January 4th.
