Reggie Theus Talks Kobe Bryant Passing on Mercedes in the AM

Reggie Theus

On the show this morning, we had Reggie Theus, UNLV Hall of Famer, former Sacramento Kings head coach, and someone who watched Kobe Bryant grow into his legacy.

We found out the horrific news yesterday that Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter Gianna, and 7 others were killed in a helicopter crash from Newport Beach to Thousand Oaks. Reggie was one of the first commentators of Kobe’s First Dunk Contest back in 1997. Reggie comments on watching Kobe grow up through all of the ups and downs and becoming so much more than a legendary basketball player, but an overall a great man. Reggie stated that it's harder to see people die when they are in such a good place in their life and when he said "Mamba Out" we knew it meant from playing in the league, but he had so much more to offer after retiring. Reggie refers to yesterday as a "Bad Dream" and a "Devastating time for me and my family."
