· Ed Sheeran stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and casually dropped a ton of info about his next album—and his long-term music plans.
· First up, his next album will be called Play. But here’s where it gets interesting—he revealed that years ago, he mapped out a ten-album run, inspired by Quentin Tarantino saying he was only making ten movies.
· So far, he’s put out five, and if he sticks to the plan, the next five will be Play, Pause, Rewind, Fast-Forward, and Stop.
· Oh, and he’s also considering an Eject album—one filled with unreleased songs from throughout his life—that would only come out the day he dies.
· As if that wasn’t enough, he also debuted a brand-new song, Old Phone, right from Jimmy’s couch.
· It was only the second time he’s ever played it—the first? For about 30 people at Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe.
· We are getting the first single off of the album this Friday!
· It’s called “Azizam” and he gave a preview on social media!
· The phrase means my dear' or 'my beloved' in Persian and he used it after music producer Ilya Salmanzadeh suggested trying making music inspired by his Persian heritage and culture and it was “like opening a door to a completely new and exciting world.”
