#Juneteenth
o Some people are off work today for Juneteenth, which was technically yesterday.
o It became a federal holiday last year, but apparently that's still news to one in four Americans.
o A poll for Juneteenth found 26% of us still haven't even heard of it. And even if you have, you might not know what it's about. .
o A new survey asked people: Have you ever heard of Juneteenth? 74% said yes, and 26% said no. Of the people who DID know about it, half only learned about it in the last two years.
o They were also asked: Do you know what Juneteenth is about? Only 60% of people who'd heard of it knew it's about the end of slavery. 7% thought it was about Black people gaining the right to vote, and 5% said the signing of the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
o Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the US.
o The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

o He gave just a day’s notice before his surprise album, Honestly, Nevernind, hit streaming services on Friday and it’s already Apple Music’s biggest dance album in history.
o It broke the platform’s record for first-day streams worldwide.

o The 2023 inductees were announced.
o There will be a total of 24 entertainers recognized.
o The Motion Picture category will include Uma Thurman, Vince Vaughn, Ludacris, and Bill Pullman. Paul Walker will also be honored posthumously.
o The Recording (Music) category includes the Jonas Brothers, Lenny Kravitz, Marc Anthony, and Blake Shelton.
o Then in the Television category, the honorees include director Jon Favreau, Mindy Kaling, Martin Lawrence, Ralph Macchio, and Ellen Pompeo.
o The ceremony dates haven't been announced.
