· Madonna is back to remind us why she’s the queen of reinvention—she just announced her long-rumored project, Veronica Electronica.
· The new release is basically a love letter to her iconic Ray of Light era, with rare and unreleased remixes from the 1998 album (and yes, it’s been that long).
· The first taste? She dropped a deep cut remix of “Skin”—so if you’re still emotionally recovering from the original, buckle up.
· Veronica Electronica officially drops July 25, both digitally and on silver vinyl for everyone who still needs something shiny for their record shelf.
· This eight-track remix project was actually Madonna’s original plan for Ray of Light—but it got shelved because the album became a full-on cultural event, spawned hit after hit, and pretty much dominated the ‘90s for a year.
· Preorders are up now, and the tracklist is a who’s who of club remix royalty: Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone all make appearances.
· Fun fact: this is her first remix album since Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones in 2022, and her last studio album was 2019’s Madame X—so yes, she’s still outworking all of us.
· Madonna got personal about this era on Instagram, calling Ray of Light a “seminal moment” when she’d just had Lola and was, in her words, ready to “shed a new skin and take a road less traveled.”
· In true Madonna fashion, this announcement comes just after she celebrated her dad’s 94th birthday with a tribute, saying he’s still getting up every day “until the wheels fall off.”
· Ray of Light remains one of her biggest albums ever, with hits like “Frozen,” “Drowned World/Substitute for Love,” “The Power of Good-Bye,” and a Grammy for Best Pop Album.
