o The Weeknd has shared a first look at his “Hurry Up Tomorrow” movie on social media.
o The film, which is apparently a psychological thriller, stars The Weeknd as well as Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.
o It’s also tied to his recent album of the same name, and the story follows a musician dealing with insomnia who “is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence,” according to an official synopsis.
o Speculation is that this film might mark the last hurrah for Abel Tesfaye's Weeknd persona.
o It’s an idea the artist has been teasing for some time (and even seems to be suggesting in the very title of the album/movie),
o The director, Trey Edward Shults indicated that is "absolutely" a possibility, saying "I tried to make the movie in a way where, for his fans and people who want to approach it at that level, I hope it's very satisfying and you get a good meal out of it. And for people that aren't his fans and don't know anything about him or even care about the final capping of the Weeknd, I think you still have a great movie to go through."
o The “Hurry Up Tomorrow” movie is due out in theaters on May 16th.
