o The future Hall of Fame quarterback is now a minority owner of another Las Vegas sports franchise (he has an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Aces.)
o His bid to buy a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders was approved during the league’s fall meeting yesterday.
o Yesterday he posted on social media “I’m incredibly humbled and excited to have been unanimously approved as an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders…I’m eager to contribute to the organization in any way I can, honoring the Raiders' rich tradition while finding every possible opportunity to improve our offering to fans ... and most importantly, WIN football games."
o The approval will impact his job as a broadcaster with Fox as he just started his 10-year $375 million broadcasting deal with them.
o Some of the restrictions on him include:
§ He is not permitted to be in another team’s facility
§ He is not permitted to witness practice
§ He is not permitted to attend broadcast production meetings, either in person or virtually.
§ He is prohibited from publicly criticizing game officials and other clubs.
§ He is subject to the NFL’s gambling policy
§ He is subject to the NFL’s anti-tampering policy
o This all happened the same day that the Raiders said goodbye to Devante Adams.
o Owner Mark Davis joked “We traded Davante Adams for Tom Brady and a third round pick today.”
