honey Ted and I tried a couple of newbies for dinner that turned out easy cheesy yummy. Our love for pizza & pasta made these two newbies winners for dinner!
Cheesy BBQ Cornbread Pizza
Ingredients- Pillsbury Cornbread Swirls
- Favorite BBQ sauce
- Favorite meats - Since it's BBQ sauce, honey Ted went for prosciutto, pastrami and bacon. At least 3-4 pieces each
- Your favorite cheeses - parmesan (shake), 1 1/2-2 cups of Italian shredded cheeses and cheddar cheese (3 slices cut up little pieces / shredded)
Directions:
- Pre -heat oven 375 (cornbread twists suggested heat)
- Rectangle baking pan / or whatever pan you like to bake pizza. The Cornbread Twists come in strips, so a smaller rectangle shape pan is easiest
- Spread out the cornbread twists in rows next to each other. Press them together a bit.
- Bake 6-7 minutes to set up, about half baked
- Put the ingredients on as you would like. I started with sauce, then the cheddar cheese cut in small pieces, a good shake all over of parmesan cheese, then bacon broken up in pieces, then some shredded Italian cheese, then the prosciutto and pastrami cut up in small pieces, drizzled / spooned some more BBQ on the meat, than covered with Italian cheese.
- Baked another 20-23 minutes. Until the cheese is golden-ish brown, and it's hot in the middle. Let it cool a bit
- Cut it up & Enjoy! Dipping it in more BBQ sauce is yummy. If you don't put the ingredients all the way to the end, you can have cornbread crust bones. Dipped in PB / honey is yummy too.
A bonus cheesy meal was the Cheetos Mac 'n Cheese. If you enjoy the Cheetos flavor, you'll enjoy this. It's just like the chips, but not as salty, which is a bonus to me. We of course added a bit of shredded cheddar cheese and a shake of the parmesan cheese to make it a bit more cheesy. Basically followed the box instructions. I would suggest if you like a bit thicker mac'n cheese, don't use as much milk as it calls for. We added chicken breast nuggets / strips we baked with it. ( Sweet peas added on my plate)
