Ways to make your produce last longer

Isn't it frustrating to get yummy produce that seems to go bad in a couple days. Bananas, apples, sliced carrots and more. Here are some tricks to help keep your produce fresher longer. This will help avoid food waste of tossing it when it's rotten. You can actually enjoy eating what you bought. Being Green! Saving Green! It's a big #1Thing Win! 

Tips to make your produce last longer:*Remember to wash your produce before storing, and especially before eating.*
  • Apples Keep them in the fridge by themselves, because they release ethylene gas that makes produce ripen quickly.
  • AvocadosBest stored at room temperature. Store in a dark cupboard to ripen quickly. To slow down ripning, store in the fridge. The word is an avocado hugger saves the from turning brown
  • BananasThey ripen quickly stored in the fridge. To slow down ripning, store on your countertop. 
  • Carrots / Celery (sliced) Store them in a mason jar /glass filled with water to make them stay tastier longer. 
  • Ginger (root)It's easier to grate when stored in the freezer. You can also store it in a cool, dark place to prolong it's freshness.
  • Leafy GreensStoring them in a mason jar / glass will keep them fresh for around 2 weeks or more.
  • Onions & Potatoes Storing them in a dark, cold and dry place will keep them fresher much longer.
  • StrawberriesPlanning to eat them the day you got them, put them on the counter. If not, store them in the fridge.
  • TomatoesStore them on the counter, or they stop ripening and lose their taste.
