From The Governors Office - Frequently Asked Questions About The VA Shutdown

Wicker and Wilde got a hold of this and thought we'd share with you because there is so much confusing information out there.

Along with our State Health Commissioner, Governor Northam has issued an Executive Order, partially shutting down the Commonwealth.  The order starts at Midnight tonight (Tuesday, March 24th, 2020) and will last until April 23rd.
What businesses are being shuttered? So mainly, but not all non-essential businesses must shut down.  These businesses include (but are not limited to): theaters and concert venues, museums, beauty salons, barber shops, spas, tanning salons, tattoo shops, racetracks, bowling alleys, and indoor shooting ranges.  The non-essential business that are allowed to remain open have to give us the ability to be at least 6 feet away from other people and be able to clean, clean and keep cleaning.
What places are still open? You may not be able to go sit down and enjoy a night but you can still support your favorite eateries and breweries.  Restaurants, dining establishments, food courts, breweries, microbreweries, distilleries, wineries, tasting rooms, and farmers markets must close their dining and congregation areas, but they may remain open for delivery and take-out services. So order on up! You can also order gift cards for future use.  By the way if you want to support the restaurant/food service industry workers who have been affected by closures and subsequent layoffs then please donate to the Holli Fund that has been set up.  And keep an eye out for more virtual happy hours.

Of course grocery stores, gas stations, health facilities and pet food stores are still open.  Plus many more....(full list found here)

You may be surprised to know lawn and garden places can stay open so if you have something on a Honey Do have no excuses! LOL Plus most liquor stores are still open along with dry cleaners/laundromats, automotive stores and (thankfully) banks!

What about child care centers?  Yes. Childcare centers are still open, but Governor Northam urges you to stay home with their children if you can do so, to prioritize the children of parents working in essential areas.
Are we allowed to go out? Yes, we are allowed to leave our houses, however, if you don't have to go out you really shouldn't.  Feel free to go to a park, for a walk with your family and/dog(s) or for any kind of exercise.  Just remember to practice social distancing and keep six feet apart from others. All public and private gatherings of more than 10 people are banned.

Can I still go to the dentist? Eye exams, teeth cleaning, and elective procedures should be cancelled or rescheduled. Don't go to any doctor if you are not sick or see a doc on a telehealth line.

What if my pets get sick? Veterinarians and pet hospitals are still open, and you can bring your pets if they are sick or urgently need medical attention. If your fur baby has a non-urgent need or annual checkup, you should postpone the appointment.  As far as grooming goes?  Same thing.....and call first, your groomer may not be open at this time.
