'Dancing With the Stars': The 5 Contestants Advancing to the Semifinals

By Tarrah Gibbons, Audacy

It was a night filled with songs you danced to in your bedroom, gushing over your favorite girl or boy band.

“Dancing with the Stars” celebrities and professional dancers brought their A game to the competition as they faced off to see who would make the semifinals. Each pair danced to two songs, one routine to a song by a girl group and one by a boy band.

Joey Fatone, the *NSYNC star joined judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba to critique the dancers as they competed for the mirror ball trophy.

Six couples faced off in the ballroom as one couple was eliminated. After all the judges’ scores were combined with votes, Sean Spicer and his partner Jenna Johnson went home. Johnson has been filling in for Lindsay Arnold, due to a family emergency.

Here are the couples that still remain in the competition and will go head-to-head for the title.

Lauren Alaina and Gleb Savchenko

Lauren and Gleb landed themselves a spot in the bottom two. Both first danced the quickstep to "Can't Hurry Love." Judges Len and Bruno pointed out there were some mishaps, but Carrie Ann said she loved it! The couple received a score of 34/40. Their next dance was a rumba to "I Want It That Way." She was joined by one of the Backstreet Boys, AJ Mclean, who helped her with the choreography. That dance got a better score and the judges gave them a 36/40.

Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber

Ally Brooke and Sasha Farber stole the show with the night's only perfect scores for both dances. For their first dance, the two danced a samba to "Wannabe." The next dance was a jazzy number to "Step by Step." Carrie Ann told Ally that her dance reminded her of Paula Abdul. This week they did not end up in the bottom two, turning it around from last week's low-ranking performance.

Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten

Guest judge Joey Fatone called Hannah Brown and Alan Bersten's second dance the best dance of the night! While they scored a 39/40 with their second dance, a fast tango to "Boy With Luv," the judges agreed that their first dance, a salsa to "No Scrubs," was very messy.

Kel Mitchell and Witney Carson

The pair's first dance was a paso doble to "Free Mind." Carrie Ann said it was powerful, but the moves needed to be bigger. The next dance was the performance that the couple wowed the judges. They danced a viennese waltz to "I'll Make Love to You." The judges gave their dance a 40/40.

James Van Der Beek and Emma Slater

James and Emma's first dance was a jive to "I'm So Excited." Len was impressed with the couple for the speed of the dance. Bruno said the dance was done "very very well." Carrie Ann told James that he started off a little ahead of the music.

Next week, everyone will do two dances each, and one of them will be a "redemption" round! The show is on ABC on Monday at 8 p.m. (ET).
