On Monday, the news host, 66, revealed during an interview with Dr. Fauci on “CBS This Morning” that she will not allow any of her family members who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine attend their Thanksgiving vacation, People reports.
"I don't know how many more times you can say to people, 'Listen, it will save your life,'" she told the nation's top infectious diseases expert.
She continued, "I have this problem with some members of my own family, which I'm now going to ban for Thanksgiving vacation. That's how strongly I'm taking what you're saying."
Fauci appeared on the news show to discuss the highly contagious Delta variant.
"We really to get more people vaccinated because that's the solution," he told King. "This virus will, in fact, be protected against, with the vaccine."
Last month, the Delta variant became California’s dominant COVID-19 strain.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released data showing the Delta variant, which first originated in India, accounted for 51.7% of nationwide COVID-19 cases over the two weeks ending July 3.
Most of last month's deaths and infections in the U.S. were among people who aren’t vaccinated.
"The overwhelming proportion of people who get into trouble are the unvaccinated, which is the reason why we say this is really entirely avoidable and preventable," Dr. Anthony Fauci said on NBC’s "Meet the Press" last Sunday.
