Both musicians have fond memories growing up with the brand and have big plans to revive it’s impact on the outdoor community after purchasing Field & Stream outdoor lifestyle brand from Dick’s Sporting Goods and the digital magazine from Recurrent. Plans to level up the historic Field & Stream impact include a relaunch of the digital platform, apparel collection, outdoor music festival and lastly, bringing back the print publication with two issues a year via a new Field & Stream 1871 Club after the company ceased print in 2021.
“I can remember my grandfather kept a few of his favorite Field & Stream magazines on the dash of his truck,” Church shared. “They were my Bible. It is the honor of my life to make sure that legacy carries on. It is both this responsibility to an American Icon and also to a young boy in his papaw’s truck that will be the compass that guides our steps.”
Added Wallen, “There’s nothin’ I love more than being with friends around a campfire, on a boat or in a deer stand -- and Field & Stream represents all of those to me. Being part of its future is incredible and we want to keep bringing people together outdoors, makin’ memories, for generations to come.”
Teaming with Church and Wallen will be Doug McNamee, former president of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Collection, to manage the brand as well as Colin Kearns, Field & Stream editor-in-chief since 2016.
