With an obvious nod to the emotion attached to "the day the music died," the Foo Fighters have released a documentary short about the band’s epic June 20 performance at the recently reopened, post-COVID Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Foos and Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. created the short film The Day the Music Came Back, which comes in at just 10-minutes, to celebrate the long-awaited reopening and features the classic tracks “Best of You” and “Everlong.”
“For the last year, I had this reoccurring dream that I would f***in’ walk on stage and we would look at each other for the first time,” frontman Dave Grohl says in the clip, "and it would take a couple of minutes, where we just look at each other like, ‘Thank God we got here tonight.’ I f***in’ walk out onstage tonight. It was just like that f***in’ dream. Thank you very much everybody for making my dream come true tonight.”
Aside from the live performances, the short film also features conversations with fans and backstage chats with the workers involved with getting the venue back in working order.
The Foo Fighters are currently on the road celebrating 26 years of blistering rock with a run of scheduled dates and a 'crapload' more to be added.
