Rising country star Gabby Barrett has just announced that she and husband Cade Foehner are expecting a baby girl to arrive early next year.

Barrett and Foehner, who appeared on Season 16 of "American Idol," got married in October 2019. This will be their first child.

"We are very excited," Barrett told People. "The Lord has blessed us with a little one, and we're really excited to finally be able to share the news with everybody and just have a big old family celebration about it."

The couple learned of the pregnancy back in May while they were visiting Foehner's family. "We were in Texas visiting Cade's side of his family. And it's funny, because I did not think that I was. Around lunchtime, I remember taking the test and my eyes nearly crossed!" Barrett said.

"I was like, 'Wait, is that two lines?'" she explained. "I came running out to Cade and was just like, 'Oh my gosh, I think I am.' That's all that I said, and he knew what that meant. I started crying, and it was very sweet."

Foehner's mother was in the room when Barrett came through with the positive pregnancy test, and they immediately called for his father to share the happy news. "Then we called and told my family. It was just a really happy time," Barrett said.

Barrett and Foehner have "talked and prayed" for kids since they got married, and were thrilled to be sharing this moment together. The pandemic left more time for these conversations.

"Then, of course, with the pandemic happening, there was this huge amount of time of getting to think and rethink what life was going to be about," Foehner shared. "So we started trying pretty much at the start of the whole pandemic. It happened pretty quickly."

"We were blown away that it worked so quickly. But yes, we were starting to plan on it for sure," he explained.

The couple revealed they would be keeping the child's name on the DL until she's born. The pair is looking forward to touring with their child and having a "family rodeo in a tour bus."
