Other than revving the engine of the LG7 rollout last month with the arrival of the project’s electro-pop lead single “Disease,” Gaga hasn’t shared anything else about the forthcoming record, including its title and release date, which is rumored to be sometime in February 2025. However, that hasn’t been confirmed… or denied.

A week after releasing “Disease,” Gaga followed up by dropping the track’s eerie music video. Upon its arrival, Gaga opened up about the song on social media, saying it ran parallel to “the relationship I have with my own inner demons.”

“It’s never been easy for me to face how I get seduced by chaos and turmoil,” she wrote. “‘Disease’ is about facing that fear, facing myself and my inner darkness, and realizing that sometimes I can’t win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. That I can try and run from them but they are still part of me and I can run and run but eventually I’ll meet that part of myself again, even if only for a moment.”

In September, a month before dropping “Disease,” Gaga spoke to Rolling Stone about how she wasn’t “even ready to talk about [her new album] yet,” however she did say, “the pop album is nothing like [2020’s] Chromatica,” promising to reveal more details on the “unhinged” LP soon.

Now, nearly a month since the lead single debuted, Lady G is making good on her promise and indeed shedding some light on what fans can expect from her forthcoming album

In a new interview with Vogue, Gaga revealed that when it comes to genre, LG7 has a more “chaotic” vibe. “The album is chaotic from a genre perspective—it is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music,” she told the magazine.

“When I write and produce and sing songs, I am always drawing upon my knowledge of the history of music, and so many artists and producers that came before me,” she added. “In that way, this album is a celebration of a lot of the music that made me who I am, because when I returned to a darker pop style of pop, all my early experiences with music came out.”

Noting the project also has aspects of personal storytelling, Gaga continued, “I wrote a lot of various fantasies and escapes. The only place reality is really present is that these fantasies are coming from a real person, trying to soothe their inner chaos,” she explained. “That’s where I found the reason for why I make this music. Each song is an exercise in personal chaos—a way to deal with myself.”

Gaga wrapped up her comments about LG7 by sharing, “The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time—to be free of your worries at home or walking through life.”

Elsewhere in her chat with Vogue, Gaga also discussed the new electric guitar rendition of “Disease,” which follows up the previously shared live piano-led acoustic version of the track.

“Since the chorus of ‘Disease’ was written at the piano, that version was in some parts really delicate and almost sombre. So, something I always try to do when I’m singing a song again is to go deeper, and I wondered if we took some of the electric guitar energy that’s on the pop version and stripped it back—would I find another level to the song? And I did,” she told the outlet.

Shot in one take, the video for the latest version sees Gaga signing alongside longtime guitarist Tim Stewart. Check it out below.
