The petition filed in L.A. County Superior Court by attorneys for Lynne Spears also said that Britney's public statement in court last month was "very courageous" while asking the court to "listen to the wishes of her daughter."

"Now, and for the past many years, [Britney Spears] is able to care for her person and in fact has, inside of the parameters of this conservatorship, earned literally hundreds of millions of dollars as an international celebrity," the petition reads. Adding, "Her capacity is certainly different today than it was in 2008."

Lynne asked for the court to allow her daughter to hire her own lawyers saying, "This Motion to Appoint Private Counsel is of the utmost importance and may very well impact each and every of the other requests submitted by [Britney] in her live testimony.... Clearly [Britney] needs private counsel to advise her as to her basic rights in this conservatorship."

This request of course follows Britney's court-appointed attorney, Samuel Inghamresigning from the case which he had been entrenched in since February 2008.
