“Tae is bringing home her NICU baby today!” Font exclaimed to Audacy’s John & Tammy in the Morning. “After 4 months of absolute hell, she is comin’ home!”
Leighton arrived much before her anticipated Spring due date and just weeks after Maddie & Tae announced the postponement of their upcoming CMT Next Women of Country Tour: All Song No Static tour due to Tae being placed on bed rest.
“After 53 days in the NICU our sweet Leighton Grace Kerr came home today,” Kerr shared in a post on Instagram. “We have been blown away by all of the support and can’t thank you enough for praying her home. We were also blessed with so many amazing NICU nurses and staff along the way.”
Font shared faith has gotten the duo through the hardships of the past few months as they’ve navigated the sudden changes in Tae’s pregnancy.
“We’ve really held onto our faith,” said Font. “I’d go to the hospital at least a couple times a week to spend time with Tae and I would just pray over her and her belly.”
Complications with the pregnancy came around the same time the duo released their latest album, Through The Madness, which Maddie teases manifested the rollercoaster they’ve been on.
“It’s wild. Listening to the new album before all of this and now after, it makes me even more emotional,” she shared. “If you listen to it now after knowing what we’ve been through the last four months there’s a different level of depth.”
