Releasing just last month, Tenille’s sophomore album, Girl to Girl, has already made an impact on so many with songs about real struggles and the life of a teen. Inspired by the idea of writing letters to her younger self, Tenille reaches a new level of vulnerability that speaks directly to the hearts of those in the midst of the struggle.

“There’s a lot of songs about some important topics on there and to see [fans] really reacting and sharing their stories relating to it, it’s just been so great,” the now 27-year-old told Audacy’s Katie Neal.

“I feel like these are songs I wish I had when I was like 15 [or] 16 years old. Those songs that are kind of like older sister advice. You never want to listen to your parents when they tell you, ‘you might not marry your high school boyfriend,’ or whatever it might be. It’s just songs that are sharing those experiences and I think if I had those at maybe 15 [or] 16 it might’ve helped me.”

No one better to give advice than someone who has been there herself, and she’s happy to support the next generation of women.

“You’re trying to figure out who you are and you’ve got a lot of people in your head and a lot of opinions,” Tenille recalled of her high school days. “You’re in high school, there’s girl drama and all that and you’re trying to love yourself, your body, there’s a lot goin’ on. It’s a difficult time.”

Tenille’s album, Girl to Girl, is available now everywhere.
