Worlds collided when BTS and Megan Thee Stallion dropped the “Butter” remix and let’s be honest…. It melted our hearts too.
For a period of time, there was uncertainty as to whether or not this remix would even see the light of day.
According to court documents obtained by Billboard, Megan Thee Stallion claimed that her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, was blocking her from appearing on the “Butter” remix. Meg filed an emergency temporary restraining order that would allow the remix to be released.
Meg, real name Megan Pete, and her lawyers argued that by not releasing the song, her "art will be impacted, the release of the song derailed, and Pete's goodwill, reputation, and overall career will suffer detrimental, undesirable, and irreversible harm.”
The newly released remix is just another milestone in the wildly successful summer “Butter” has enjoyed so far. BTS’ second all-English single was a chart-topper as it spent nine weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Butter” is currently the longest-running number one single of 2021 thus far.
