Sheeran is finally getting back on the road after a break due to COVID, bringing his latest album, = (Equals), to the vibrating masses that have been waiting to see him in person again since its release in mid-2021. When Ed joined Audacy host Bru and some lucky listeners in Los Angeles for an intimate chat about the new record, he also played some of his singles while he had his guitar with him.
"I never really try to go for a message with any album," Ed tells Bru. "It's just a snapshot of how my life is at that time, but it's called 'Equals' because I feel like being 30 is the start of when everything starts getting answers... there's loads of questions and you're sort of figuring out who you are. Then you get to 30 and stuff starts falling into place a bit more. I just found that turning 30, becoming a dad, getting married; I lost a close friend as well and I think that really hit home that life is precious and you should take every day as if it's your last -- and really enjoy it."
Following Ed's chat, watch him perform the tracks "Overpass Graffiti," "Give Me Love," "The Joker And The Queen," "Shivers," "Perfect," "Shape Of You," and, "Bad Habits."
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Ed's newest single is "The Joker And The Queen," the sixth track from his latest album, = (Equals), with the addition of his good friend Taylor Swift. In case you missed it, make sure you also check out Ed's 2022 BRIT Awards performance with the help of U.K. rockers Bring Me The Horizon for a look at a totally different side of the singer's musical prowess.
