Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of late guitar virtuoso Eddie Van Halen has shared a touching tribute to his father on the one-year anniversary of his passing on October 6, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Wolfie, who played bass with the latest version of Van Halen and is now the frontman for his own rock outfit Mammoth WVH currently on tour with Guns N' Roses, posted a truly touching image of him and his dad smiling on social media, while addressing his father's cancer struggle, Wolfie's own pain stemming from the loss of his father, and his hopes that Eddie is "still proud" of his son.

"You fought so hard for so long, but you were still taken away. It’s just so unfair," Wolfie says in the caption on a touching photo which he shared on Instagram on the one-year anniversary of Eddie Van Halen's passing. "I’m not ok. I don’t think I’ll ever be ok. There’s so much I wish I could show you. So many things I wish I could share with you."

"I wish I could laugh with you again. I wish I could hug you again. I miss you so much it hurts," he continues. "I’m trying to do my best here without you, but it’s really f***ing hard. I hope you’re still proud. I love you with all of my heart, Pop. Watch over me." Original Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony even responded to Wolfie's post, writing in the comments "Your pop is smiling down, proud of you Wolf".

It is an absolute tragedy that Eddie never got a chance to see Wolfie perform on stage holding his own without the Van Halen crew, but we think EVH is looking down on his son with a smile even bigger and brighter than the one in the photo his son shared above.
