Parents in Ohio are facing charges after they rented a party bus for their 14-year-old’s birthday party with 60 mask-less kids packed inside.
On Saturday night, Mount Healthy Police Department witnessed an unmarked bus enter the Hilltop Shopping Center, located just 11 miles north of Cincinnati, police said in a statement.
The statement, which was posted to Facebook early Monday morning, stated that the kids existed the vehicle without masks or abiding by COVID-19 guidelines. The kids then broke out into fights which required police to respond to the scene.
The police then worked for nearly an hour to keep the kids socially distanced, and break up fights between the kids who were reportedly very agitated once they departed the bus.
One of the mask-less kids attempted to strike a Mt. Healthy Police Officer and was arrested, according to police.
The party, which began in downtown Cincinnati, was reportedly posted to social media as an “OPEN INVITE,” and drove to the second location without any permission from the shopping center.
The parents involved have been charged with violations of the Governor’s orders, and contributing to the unruliness/delinquency of a child, according to News Daily.
Police in Ohio are now pleading to parents to safely and responsibly manage their children in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Parents – it is your responsibility to manage your children. Mount Healthy Police will not tolerate blatant law violations especially when such action endangers our community, our officers, and public health,” police said. They continued, “The Hilltop Plaza is not public property and should not be used without the permission of the owners.”
