Tom Brady spent training camp hiatus in Bahamas, reportedly still struggling to ‘make marriage work’ with Gisele Bundchen

Playing without three of his top receivers (Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones), Tom Brady gave a gutsy performance for the short-handed Bucs in Week 3, coming within a two-point conversion of upsetting the Packers in what may have been his final regular-season matchup with Aaron Rodgers. But arguably the bigger story from Sunday’s game was the absence of Gisele Bundchen, who continues to keep her distance from Brady amid a rough patch in their marriage.

Per Emily Smith of Page Six, the couple’s recent marital woes stem, not from cheating or even Brady’s decision to return for a 23rd NFL season (his “retirement” lasted all of 39 days). Instead, the two have simply “grown apart,” living separately with Bundchen renting a house in Miami, where she and their two kids have stayed for several weeks. By sheer coincidence, Brady has been in Miami this week, where the Bucs are practicing ahead of their upcoming matchup with Kansas City (the team evacuated Tampa in anticipation of Hurricane Ian).

Smith’s report also sheds light on Brady’s 11-day hiatus from training camp this summer, which the quarterback had previously attributed to having a “lot of s--- going on.” Apparently, Brady spent that time vacationing with his children in the Bahamas while Bundchen stayed behind, enjoying some alone time at their home in Costa Rica.

“There is absolutely no accusation of cheating on either side,” sources told Smith. “Tom and Gisele have recently struggled to make their marriage work and have grown apart.”

Bundchen provided some insight into her relationship with Brady in a recent cover story for Elle magazine, alluding to some of the sacrifices she’s made for her family, putting her modeling career and other ambitions on hold in support of her husband, a level of commitment Brady hasn’t necessarily reciprocated. Brady and Bundchen have encountered similar obstacles in the past, leaving at least some hope for a reconciliation. The uncertainty surrounding Brady’s marriage doesn’t appear to be impacting his on-field performance, though we did see his emotions get the best of him in Week 2, smashing not one but two Microsoft tablets during a sideline tirade. That prompted a league-wide memo, threatening discipline for anyone who breaks a tablet or any other equipment going forward.
