Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam says elective surgery and dental work can resume in Virginia on Friday, the day the ban on it expires.  Both were banned by Northam in March as a way to save hospital space and protective equipment to deal with coronavirus.  Northam says the medical siutation now allows both to resume.

Northam, however, sidestepped a question as for whether Virginia was on pace for a partial "phase 1" reopening on May 8th.  Northam laughed when a reporter suggested the answer was "not definitely yes, but not definitely no."  He did say they are using trends, rather individual day's numbers (on hospitilizations and cases), to make their decisions.

Northam also says they are working to try and get kids back into schools on time in the fall.
