Rich Herrera: Radio Host, News Talk Personality
Rich Herrera is the new host of the long-running Richmond Morning News on Newsradio WRVA. With over 30 years in broadcasting, Rich has hosted shows nationally on Fox Sports Radio, SiriusXM, and CBS Sports Radio. His career also spans major markets, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tampa, Miami, St. Louis, and Tucson.
A lifelong conservative, Rich made a bold career shift from sports broadcasting to Newstalk radio. After years of supporting GOP candidates and proudly flying the American flag, he felt the call to do more. The son of a migrant farm worker, he is motivated by his passion to give back to the nation that gave him so much, Rich embraced the challenge of joining WRVA to speak out and make a difference in our nation by bringing us together, boldly questioning everything, and thinking outside the box to come up with solutions.
Outside of his career, Rich has been married for 27 years and is the proud father of Rigney, his son, who is finishing college before joining the U.S. Navy.

Rich grew up in Salinas and Bakersfield, California, and attended CSU Bakersfield (the same school as Kevin McCarthy). Rich was an NFL and NCAA football sideline reporter for ten years. A big Disney fan, Rich cherishes family trips to Disneyland and the parks in Florida. His guilty pleasures? Baseball caps and shoes—he has a collection. On his honeymoon, Rich visited Cooperstown, NY, to tour the Baseball Hall of Fame (a suggestion from his wife). Rich is an avid golfer, and yes, he’s a very good one. He has served on Congressional Service Academy nomination boards, reviewing West Point, Annapolis, Air Force, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy candidates. Rich met President George H.W. Bush at a Texas A&M football game. He inherited two mini schnauzers, Roxie and Lady, from his parents. Roxie is sweet and low-key, while Lady’s always in the middle of everything. Rich is a proud Sigma Pi fraternity alumnus and is listed as one of the fraternity's famous alumni.
