
A group of World War II veterans were honored at the Richmond Airport today, en route to New Orleans.
The veterans, representing all branches of the US Military, are heading to the National WWII Museum. Doc Jacobs, a Navy combat trauma specialist who was wounded in Iraq, is accompanying them to New Orleans. Jacobs said the trip meant a great deal to him, and to everyone taking this flight.
In all, 20 World War II veterans are taking the trip as part of the Gary Sinise Foundation's "Soaring Valor" program. The plane departed from richmond early wednesday afternoon.
