Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - There was a big jump in gas prices overnight, bringing the record Richmond average for a gallon of gas to $4.41. The number is up 11 cents overnight, and 50 cents in the last month.

AAA Mid-Atlantic's Morgan Dean says several things are happening at once to push up gas prices. Dean says crude oil prices remain high at around $110 a barrel. He also says the war in Ukraine is continuing, and there doesn't appear to be anything slowing summer travel demand.

Dean says he doesn't see anything creating downward pressure in the short-term either. He does wonder when we get to a point where demand starts to drop because of the cost.
