Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police are reminding drivers that the grace period for speeding violations at the two newest Safety Camera locations is ending Wednesday, Feb. 26.

Starting Thursday, Feb. 27, violations at Richmond High School for the Arts (4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike) and Thomas Jefferson High School (1400 block of Malvern Avenue) will result in a citation.

Police say the cameras have been capturing speeding violations in front of the schools during student arrival and dismissal times, resulting in warnings to the owners of the vehicles during the grace period.

The other eleven cameras have been in operation since October of last year and are also continuing to issue violations.

“We continue to encourage drivers to slow down while driving in the city of Richmond, especially in school zones when students are present,” officials with the Richmond Police Department said.
