Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield students are already wrapping up their first week of school, but Henrico and Richmond students start their school year on Monday. This is the first pre-Labor Day start for both school districts.
Henrico Schools Superintendent Amy Cashwell says they will have coverage in every classroom, similar to what Chesterfield Superintendent Merv Daugherty said on Monday. Cashwell says they have filled 95% of their teaching positions, and for the rest are using long-term subs and administrative staff. There are 75 bus driver vacancies but Cashwell says they are optimizing their routes.
Richmond is also beginning its school year Monday. The school year comes just days after Superintendent Jason Kamras survived a potential ousting over SOL scores.
