Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Calling it "Hot Vaccinated Summer," Richmond and the Richmond-Henrico Health District is starting an effort Thursday to get vaccines as close as possible to people. Starting on Thursday, businesses, organizations, and neighborhoods can request vaccination teams come to their areas to educate and provide shots.

The effort comes as President Joe Biden is looking to get 70% of Americans at least partially vaccinated by July 4th. Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney is trying to push that effort as well as part of his membership in the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Currently, just under 44% of Richmond residents have had at least one dose of a Covid vaccine.
