
Richmond, Va. (Newwsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) has told lawmakers he wants additional tax relief from next year's General Assembly. Youngkin spoke to lawmakers during the annual August budget speech on the economy.
Youngkin did not detail exactly what types of relief he is looking for. He did say he is setting aside nearly $400 million of the Commonwealth's $3.2 billion surplus for relief. Much of the surplus is spoke for in spending and in reserve funds.
The General Assembly did pass tax relief last session. Rebates will be coming to taxpayers this fall, and the grocery tax was cut. The standard deduction was also increased However, the General Assembly did not pass Youngkin's signature gas tax suspension.
