It's been five years since the Texas Historical Commission officially recognized the Astrodome as a historic landmark.
This sounds warm and fuzzy, but the reality is that permanently protecting the building made it harder to tear down, which sadly needs to happen. In fact, it should have happened years ago, as the building is condemned, does not have plumbing or electricity.
In The Loop's John P. Lopez has been railing against hoarding the dome seemingly for decades, and he did so again Tuesday.
