Glenn's Weekly Motivational-The Speed of Sound

You don’t need me to tell you there are things that go by super quick in this thing called life.

A week long vacation and a week’s worth of work can’t be the same length of time, right?

That delicious piece of pizza or that hand-crafted burger goes by in what seems like a bite, and yet that pile of spinach refuses to get any smaller no matter how long you sit there.

We have 6570 days with our kids until they are adults, but tell me the parent that doesn’t say how quick that truly is? (notable exception years 1.5-3.1)

Everything comes and goes quickly.. Certain “lifelong” friends, jobs, sculpted carpet, and Chumbawamba.

One thing we don’t think about often...Is the speed of sound.

Yes, it’s a Coldplay song, but while driving home from a long road trip recently, I realized how quickly the sound in your life changes.

I have VHS tapes of my Grandma at a birthday party who passed away in 1998.  I keep my VCR downstairs so I can remember what she sounds like.

I have cassette tapes when I was 7 and singing along to my Sesame Street record player.  I keep those as a torture device for my kids because waterboarding them when they act up might make the neighbors talk.

And speaking of kids, I have lots of videos of them.  We all take pictures and keep pictures, but how many recordings do you have?

Record your life.  Record all of it.  Record your parents and grandparents talking, keep voicemails from friends and family on your phone, keep those videos of your children doing silly things, and yes, even when they fight and throw tantrums.  What grates on your last nerve will be welcomed the night you come home from their wedding reception.

Get the upgraded cloud storage from Google or Apple.  We spend 10 bucks a month and keep it all.  So much seems wasteful, until that voice and that sound is no longer there.

What is the speed of sound?  767.26 miles per hour.

Exactly the same speed your Post-Covid vacation will go.

All my best as you figure out life and the people in it. Xoxo Glenn
