For the first time since the 2018-2019 school year, Ohio schools will be getting report cards. For the last two years, ratings were suspended because the state felt it would be unfair to make evaluations while districts, teachers, students and families were navigating the pandemic.
The report cards will look different this year also. Rather than the traditional grade of A-F, a new star system will be used, ranking from 1-5 stars. Schools will still be evaluated on student state testing scores, early literacy and graduation rates, along with overall year-to-year progress. Schools are also evaluated on making sure gaps are closing for underprivileged students and those with disabilities. College and/or career readiness will also be reflected in the grade.
