Atlanta Public Schools is considering new ways to limit student screen time as parents and teachers raise concerns about how much time kids spend on devices. District leaders are reviewing proposals that include restricting device use during class and lunch, and potentially shifting away from one-to-one laptops in favor of shared computer carts. Officials are also gathering feedback from parents ahead of a July 16 meeting as they weigh how to balance technology use with learning outcomes.

On the global stage with local impact, World Cup action continues to draw attention in Atlanta and beyond. The United States men’s national team defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 2–0 to advance to the round of 16, keeping their tournament hopes alive. England also picked up a 2–1 win over Congo in a match played in Atlanta. England will face Mexico on Sunday, while the next match in Atlanta is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7 at noon. Fans without tickets can still take part in FIFA Fan Fest events across the city.


And the Atlanta Braves are stepping into international relief efforts, announcing a fundraising campaign for Venezuela following devastating earthquakes on June 24. Several players and front office members have ties to Venezuela, and the team’s foundation will match fan donations dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 through July 12.
