Emmy-winning makeup artist and lifestyle expert Nyssa Green is using her decades of experience in the beauty and television industry to inspire others after a life-changing health scare reshaped her outlook.

Green, who has worked in Atlanta television for more than 15 years, has built a career creating makeup looks for television, corporate projects and major brands. Among her work is contributing to Delta’s 100th anniversary safety videos, a project she says was a memorable part of her career.

I have worked in Atlanta television for over 15 years. I also do a lot of work with a lot of the corporations in Atlanta,” Green said.

While her professional accomplishments have continued to grow, Green’s life changed unexpectedly when she experienced a seizure that led doctors to discover a brain tumor.

The diagnosis came suddenly and required immediate action. Green said the experience gave her a renewed appreciation for life and motivated her to focus more on helping others, particularly those looking to build careers in the beauty industry.

Under two years ago, I had a seizure out of nowhere. And that is how doctors discovered I had a brain tumor. My life changed in a matter of hours,” Green said.

After undergoing brain surgery, Green began looking at her career and purpose through a new lens. With more than 20 years of experience as a makeup artist, she wanted to use her knowledge to support others while also encouraging people to prioritize their well-being and avoid burnout.

That mission led her to create new opportunities to educate and mentor aspiring makeup artists. Green is the creator of the series “Saving Face ATL” and author of “The Little Green Makeup Bible,” projects designed to share industry knowledge and help others navigate the beauty world.

Green said her health journey reminded her of the importance of giving back and using her talents to make an impact.

Giving back is just part of the deal and I’m glad to do it,” Green said.

Along with career advice, Green also shared beauty tips for people looking to improve their everyday makeup routines. She said one of the most common mistakes people make is choosing the wrong foundation shade.

According to Green, advancements in beauty technology and the growing range of available shades make it easier than ever for people to find a foundation that truly matches their skin tone.

She also emphasized the importance of sunscreen, especially for people living in Georgia and other sunny climates.
