“I’m so excited to be hosting ‘I’m Listening’ again — it’s such an important topic,” he shared ahead of the September 25 broadcast on Audacy stations nationwide. Daly is scheduled to host the 2-hour special alongside Audacy nationally syndicated Country host, Katie Neal as well as psychologist, author, scientist, and founder of the mental health nonprofit, The AAKOMA ProjectDr. AlfieeDr. AlfieeM. Breland-Noble, and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Christine Yu Moutier.

Carson’s involvement in mental health-related initiatives like Audacy’s I’m Listening stems from his own struggles with generalized anxiety disorder, which he claims he lived with for much longer than he needed due to a fear of asking for help.

“My advocacy work has become so important and it’s really stemmed from my personal experiences of suffering in silence for so long and not having any idea about the struggles of anxiety or depression or panic disorder,” he shared. “These are all things I’ve come to learn a lot about and I really enjoy talking about it and sharing those stories and experiences with all of you just in some small hope that maybe it’ll help you or give you some light or encouragement on how to get beyond, and how to manage it, how to live with it, how to find resources all of those really important things.”

While Daly looks forward to leading listeners to helpful resources, sharing his story, and doing his part to destigmatize conversations surrounding mental health, he’s also excited to learn some new things for himself. One segment, Daly says he’s looking forward to most is on kids and mental health.

“One thing I’m really looking forward to discussing this year in our two-hour special, ‘I’m Listening,’ is the impact of mental health on kids,” he shared. “My favorite job, my most important job is being a dad… I’ve got 4 beautiful children under the age of 15 and having these discussions about the impacts of social media, mental health, them going to school — which all of a sudden now has become a stressful place — there’s a lot in the category of parenting and children’s well-being and mental health… there’s a lot to tackle and discuss.”
