The musician recently joined Mayim Bialik on the Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast to talk about her self-care regimen, more specifically, meditation, and what prompted her to create a meditation album.

“There’s a certain responsibility that I had to start taking [action] very actively and very consciously around my temperament,” she shared. “It got to the point where basically self-care was no longer a luxury, it wasn’t ‘oh, this is a treat’ once every six months.”

While Morissette journeyed to find ways to prioritize her mental health and more specifically, manage her anger, she discovered meditation which allows her to be guided by music into the trenches of some of her deepest issues.

“For me, with music sometimes that can be the portal of just getting into that state of witnessing and listening and inquiring and getting to the bottom of a lot of things that I have to have extreme safety to explore,” she said. “The pay dirt moments of really getting to the bottom of some really intense stuff is usually around journaling and meditating and really listening and really asking the tougher question of my multiple parts that are showing up and attempting to act out.”

While she expresses she’s on a never-ending journey to balance and healing, she takes pride in the strides she’s made and the changes she’s seen.

Find out more about her meditation practices, album and why she believes some anger is a good thing on her episode of the Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast above.
