VonsAlbertsons and Pavilions are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Join us on Sunny 98.1 FOOD FOR THOUGHT as we pay tribute to inspiring Hispanic leaders who have made innovations in the food industry.

In 1973, Cuban immigrants Gilbert de Cardenas and his wife Jennie took their life savings and began selling homemade queso fresco store-to-store out of their car. Over fifty years later, Cacique Foods is still a family-owned company committed to crafting high-quality, delicious Mexican-style cheeses, chorizos, and cremas. Cacique offers a wide range of products that preserve authentic cultural flavors and bring families together. During Hispanic Heritage Month and every day, Cacique proudly celebrates the vibrant traditions of the Latino community and supports their four pillars of Family, Integrity, Quality and Authenticity.

At Del Real Foods, Jesus Cardenas honors his Hispanic heritage through time-honored recipes passed down by the Cardenas family. Committed to preserving authentic Hispanic culinary traditions, Del Real Foods uses fresh, premium ingredients to bring you dishes like Carnitas, Pupusas, and Tamales. Perfect for quick meals or festive gatherings, Del Real Foods brings rich, flavorful, and convenient Hispanic flavors to the table, celebrating Hispanic culture with every bite.

Founded by mother-daughter duo Bianca and Cheryl, OC Salsa Rica began at a local farmers market in 2013, inspired by the desire to share their family's homemade, authentic recipes. Using fresh, simple ingredients like California vine-ripened tomatoes, cilantro, onion, and garlic, their salsa is made in small batches to ensure quality and flavor. Proudly Latina-owned and family operated, OC Salsa Rica emphasizes the importance of nutritious food in connecting people and celebrating culture. As they continue to innovate and expand their offerings, Bianca and Cheryl remain dedicated to crafting products that bring loved ones together.

Siete Foods, a Mexican American family brand, creates delicious, heritage-inspired products that span a variety of dietary needs and preferences. Founded by the Garza family as part of their health journey, Siete continues to use thoughtfully selected ingredients like avocado oil and organic beans & corn to craft foods that honor Mexican flavors while welcoming more people to the table. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Siete embraces the richness of the Latino community, believing that “Juntos es Mejor” – Together is Better – because our greatest strength lies in our unity and joint celebration.

In 1947, Jesus Martinez scraped together $35 to purchase his first inventory of spices which he then repackaged and sold door-to-door in Los Angeles. His investment turned into a $50 profit, which he used to buy more spices. From this humble beginning, Tampico Spice Company was born, becoming one of the first to package spices in clear bags for better visibility and convenience. Today, Tampico is committed to providing high-quality spices that bring the rich flavors of Hispanic cuisine. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Tampico affirms the belief that hard work and perseverance lead to success.

Food For Thought and Sunny 98.1 invite you to come into any local Vons, Albertsons and Pavilions locations to experience food differently.
